Recently I got together with a group of local E39 M5 owners in Fairfax, Virginia. I’ve gotten to know most of them in online forums, and this was a repeat of a meet we had back in late 2011.

One of the best things about owning a BMW is connecting with fellow enthusiast owners. Everyone is generous with information and advice, which is extremely helpful since we all eventually encounter the same maintenance issues with our cars. It’s also fun to connect the person with the online handle and avatar.

It’s a diverse crowd, united by our connection to a singular vehicle. There was talk of another event soon focused on DIY projects. If that comes together it will provide great material for another story. My M5 is well sorted at the moment, but the M3 needs a front suspension refresh.

One Response to “E39 M5 Northern Virginia Owners Redux”

  1. Chris,
One of your BMW posts relates indirectly to an issue that I have recently experienced with my BMW and for which I have not been successful in finding a location who can reliably perform the repair. I too live in the Northern Virginia area–Arlington–and was wondering if you might have some insights on competent repair locations for this type of work–rear bushing replacement. Please let me know if you would be available for a live phone call to discuss.
